Egypt is decisively solidifying its position as a regional energy transformation leader, driven by a strategic, government-backed commitment to a sustainable energy future. The country's Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy (ISES) 2035 has been updated to achieve over 42% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030, with a further, highly ambitious goal of reaching 60% by 2040. This revised strategy underscores the state's focus on providing continuous facilities and incentives for this vital sector, leveraging its world-class resources in solar, wind, and hydropower.
The transition is being underpinned by unprecedented investment in grid infrastructure to ensure the national network can accommodate the massive influx of new capacity. This modernization is evident in the dramatic expansion of the 500 kV transmission grid, which grew from 2,364 kilometers in 2014 to 8,250 kilometers by the end of 2024, alongside the establishment of multiple new ultra-high-voltage substations. Furthermore, the government is implementing alarge-scale program to replace 38 million traditional meters, with 12 million smart meters installed by mid-2025, to enhance grid efficiency and consumercontrol.
Beyond domestic capacity, Egypt is aggressively pursuing its Green Hydrogen ambitions, targeting 5–8 percent of the global hydrogen trade by 2040 and projecting up to $60 billion in investment. Concurrently, Egypt is expanding its regional role as a major energy hub through significant interconnection projects, including the GREGY Interconnector with Greece (3,000 MW capacity) and planned links with Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Sudan, and Libya. The private sector remains a central partner, with 32 Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) signed to generate 1,465 MW of renewable energy, demonstrating the success of the "Build, Own, Operate" model in attracting essential foreign investment.

Held under the theme "Leading the Renewable Revolution: Investment Strategies for Clean Energy Transformation", the conference will convene industry leaders to explorestrategies for scaling investment, accelerating renewable capacity deployment, strengthening the national grid, and advancing Egypt's pioneering green hydrogen economy.
